KANUGA WATERMEDIA WORKSHOPS
In the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina
Hendersonville, NC

Acrylic Landscapes
April 15 - 20, 2012, a 4 day in studio workshop

In this workshop Charles emphasizes the advantages of painting with acrylics as an alternative to more traditional media such as watercolor and oils. The techniques participants will learn in this workshop can result in finished paintings that are indistinguishable from watercolor, oils, or most likely a harmonious combination of transparent, translucent and opaque applications possible only with acrylics. This versatility will convince participants that acrylics are both attractive and practical as a painting medium that can be applied to a variety of surfaces, including paper, canvas and gesso-primed panels.

Class activities will include lecture/demonstrations and one-on-one tutoring as time permits. Theory and design issues will be discussed in context with ongoing painting activities.

Painting in Plein Air:
April 21 - 22, 2012, an extended weekend Plein Air Workshop

All Levels

To the landscape painter, plein air (open air) painting is both challenging and rewarding. The challenges include an increased sensitivity to interpretation and composition. The rewards come when we finally "get it right".

In this workshop we will address these and other issues unique to plein air painting through demonstrations, discussions, and one-on-one critiques by the instructor.

All water media acceptable.
